What is Ciprofloxacin used for?
Ciprofloxacin is used to treat bacterial infections of the ear such as swimmer’s ear in adults and children over one year of age. Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic used to stop the growth of bacteria. Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid which is an anti-inflammatory agent used to treat swelling and discomfort in the ears.
This is only used to treat bacterial ear infections. It does not work for other types of ear infections. It should not be used in the eyes. Provide your doctor or pharmacist with a list of your current drugs to check for drug interaction and allergic reaction. This can worsen conditions such as myasthenia gravis.
If you miss a dose you can take it when you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, you can skip the missed dose and take it when you remember. Taking more medication than recommended by your doctor can increase your risk of experiencing side effects. Do not stop taking ciprofloxacin unless your doctor recommends it.
